New Horizons for the Class of 2012

Childs Memorial Terrace was bustling the morning of Friday, June 8, as the Class of 2012 prepared to make their final procession down Chapel Hill as McDonogh students. Teachers and faculty from all three divisions crowded around the path to cheer, high five, and hug the graduates as they passed.

Some were exuberant, others pensive, and still others somewhere in between, but senior speaker Trevor Britton brought a smile to everyone's face with his hilarious yet thoughtful reflection on moments passed and opportunities to come. Head of School Charlie Britton congratulated the class with the poise of a headmaster and the heartfelt pride of a father.

After the students received awards, diplomas, handshakes, and embraces, music director Robby Ford led the Concert Choir, mixed with choir alumni and tearful seniors, in The McDonogh Dedication Hymn. Though the reception at the monument was rife with goodbyes, graduates were cheerful, knowing that their new paths in life will always lead to detours back to McDonogh.
